CAGD 370 Game Development (ZipLined Prototype)
Sprint 1
10/12/2025
With Sprint 1 finished, I can say with absolute certainty that the process is very different in my experience to date. In my experience, I did simulated sprints with no actual work that needed to be completed, and work was completed with luck and the roll of a die. Now that actual work is involved, the process will be different, but the further we go, the more work that will get completed, and the smoother the sprints will go. Since we are starting to get a roll on our project, it will be smoother to get work done, especially since we made a repository on GitHub to upload our work to, so that we can look at each other's work, and I can tell the developer what they need to change if any changes are needed.
Issues that came up during the process were major issues that set us back a good bit. One of them was my personal belongings, with all the work I had done, which was stolen in the middle of the sprint. Due to this, all the work I had finished was gone, and I had set my team back more than needed. It took me ¼ of the sprint to get new hardware, and by the time I did, I was unable to do much work as I needed to start over. As the lead designer of my group, I was unable to create a paper prototype with them, as I needed to guide how the game should look. I could have done better with communicating with them by telling them what had happened to me as soon as it did. I had to miss meetings with my group and work on our prototype because of it, and I had not told my group what happened, meaning we lost valuable time and progress that we could have used to fix it.

Sprint Kickoff did not go as smoothly as it could have because we were not reading to do the kickoff, and it was delayed. Because of this, our group was thrown off track, and not much work was done. The work that was completed was not work that is valuable to the project, since art is not valuable to the project, especially in the prototype stages. Since only art was completed, this essentially means that no work was done. Now that we have finished Sprint Kickoff 2, we are now getting into the motion of things, and our projected work done will just about double the amount of work that would have been completed. Now that we have a repository to share our work with, we can work independently, without having to consult each other much, and our progress will be saved to it without any trouble or issue of it being erased. Work that I did not complete was pretty much everything that was assigned to me, aside from the art that I did for the title screen, and that was only worth 1 point. I am currently working on creating the UI for our pause menu, which will take me longer than 1 day to make, as I have to make all the widgets for the user to click on and design them as well. After finishing the pause menu, I have to push it to the repo immediately so that our programmer can code it into the game, and then I will be working on creating the title screen and integrating the art that I did for the title screen, so that the work does not go to waste. While I do all of this, I will also be reviewing the work as it gets done.
